Watercolor and Color Theory with David Cook

Published on 12/18/2019

David Cook led our "paint-in" gathering on Saturday, November 16, 2019. David is a local artist; he has been painting and teaching watercolor for many years, most recently at the Arkansas Arts Center. His watercolor sketchbooks are "works of art" unto themselves!

David's Urban Sketchers group joined us for the morning added curiosity and talent to our lovely meeting . This was fabulous opportunity to learn from and paint with David. He also shared a great deal of wisdom in culture, ascetics, and process.

David demonstrated three exercises

1. Painting a color wheel non-traditionally.

2. In traditional watercolor, hue comes third - Let's use all the "wrong" colors in this landscape.

3. Watercolor Off the Walls - sketchbook-journals and other fascinations.
