Artist Statement:
Being a painter is more than mastery of techniques. I strive to express how I feel about my world and my response to it. It’s my desire to communicate. My tools are that of a painter: brush, paint and paper. Working en plein air has taught me to be alert and observant and I take this knowledge with me into the studio. I’m constantly striving to capture the effects of light and atmosphere in my work. The constant struggle keeps my work honest and direct.
