Note from Gary

I have been in the graphic arts business for almost 47 years. I have always been interested in fine arts, even as a child. I guess growing up in my time my folks just didn't know how to encourage it. Sixteen years ago I decided to take up watercolor. Being in the graphic arts business, part of my career, I did work in the dark room doing different exposures to film using different masking procedures. When I started in art, I began to use different masking materials -in our language would be called resist.
You that know my style mostly see barns, windows, doors and such. I call it Americana.

What I hope to share with you is a light hearted approach to create your own forest. I will have several samples displayed. I would hope that you would come ready to experiment with me. It will be a win for you, I am sure!

Supply List

  • Watercolor Supplies (I have not tried with watercolor, but I am willing to try.)
  • Paper of your choice (Quarter sheets will work, or smaller.)

  • Xacto knife
  • Cutting board to cut strips of tape. (We will try to have extra.)
  • Any form of resists you like. (Thin will create small branches.)
  • A Bray can be useful.
  • Most of all, your imagination and sense of humor!
