Education and Community Outreach Program
Mid-Southern Watercolorists was established to raise awareness of watercolor as an art form.
We are also service oriented, and as we work hard toward educating people about
watercolor as an art form, MSW strives to be of service to our community. In addition to
sponsoring educational opportunities, volunteers from our organization conduct
demonstrations/paint alongs as part of our community outreach program. During these
events, one of our members demonstrates a watercolor process. The facilitator shows the
group what to do, and the group then “paints along” as the facilitator guides them.
There are no fees or charges involved in our demonstrations/paint alongs, and you do not
have to be a member or join MSW to participate. This is a way to let the public know about
our organization and to invite them to participate and paint with us.
We bring the painting supplies. We do need access to a water source like a kitchen or
bathroom nearby, and paper towels. We limit our class size to twenty to make sure that we
are able to give everyone the attention they need. Our demos last about an hour to an hour
and a half. Our goal is for everyone to leave with a painting that they painted. We conduct
these events for most age groups.
We would love the opportunity to conduct a watercolor demonstration and paint along for
your organization.
